Out of office / Status
complete

It seems like there should be more team member statuses than just online (green circle next to avatar) and not online (gray circle next to avatar). It would be nice to see if a teammate is in the office, working from home, out of the office but available, unavailable to contact, on lunch, etc.
Slack's implementation of user presence (https://api.slack.com/docs/presence-and-status) seems to work well.

Statuses (with Out of office mode) available in v8.20.0! 🙌🏼
When an assignee is Out of office, assigned conversations will be unassigned and moved back into the Unassigned mailbox. Read more here: https://missiveapp.com/features/out-of-office
We hope you like it! ✌🏼

Etienne Lemay: Does this also do an auto-response to the person who emailed in as well?
Denny Cave
Tom Dobson: I agree, auto-response seems like it would be an ideal option for true "out of office" functionality.
Very thankful for what we have thus far, though! Nice work :D
Etienne Lemay
Tom Dobson: auto-response can still only be done with rules. We’re thinking an auto-response would defeat the purpose of Missive’s OOO behaviour that is to move an assigned conversation back into Unassigned.
We’ll see how this goes. At least both can be used side by side for the time being.
Tom Dobson
Etienne Lemay: Gotcha! So we get a lot of emails to personal addresses in our team and not so much through the unasigned box / shared address.
So for example, if I go on holiday and set OOO on - does that mean that any emails sent to my email address would be moved to the unassigned box for colleagues to deal with?
Etienne Lemay
Tom Dobson: I see, that’s not a case that’s handled no. It really is only assigned conversations that are unassigned, because assigned conversations usually end up in the assignee(s) inbox.
For your use case, it would require OOO to temporarily share private emails with coworkers. We haven’t thought about that scenario, but while it’s not built-in OOO at the moment it could be done manually by sharing an email account before going on holiday.
We only really heard concerns about people going on vacation while having assigned conversations, so thanks for your early feedback Tom! Feel free to open new feature request posts with specific needs for OOO for improvements.

Away function for coworkers
David Albino
There should be a way to set your status to “away “. while “away “coworkers would not have the ability to assign you to conversations or emails. There could even be a function where when you are setting your “away “function, you could choose whether to “deffer" assigned emails to a selected party with a return message stating this. Or you could choose to except the assigned emails and messages with a message stating that you are away and will reply upon return.

You can do this. Create an out of office message and select everyday. Turn on the rule. Disable it when you come home.
Rafael Masson
On our Productive plan, the Rules feature allows you to do so. You can setup a temporary rule that matches any email assigned or sent To: a specific user, and set it to move these conversations to Unassigned (it could also be Assign to: X). See attached image. Such rule can then be deleted / disabled when a user is back from vacation.
It’s not yet possible to set pre-defined periods of time when a user is always known to be out of office, but we are currently working on exactly that: https://missive.canny.io/feature-requests/p/timeday-based-rules

Airmail currently lets you set your out of office from within the app settings - would be great if you can on Missive too, so you don't have to login to Gmail separately.

I would also like to have this feature. Gmail lets you activate an auto response only from date to date. It would be great to set working hours (from Monday till Friday), and if an email is received outside of them, then an auto response would be sent.
Philippe Lehoux
Can you add some meat to this? By "out of office", do you mean an auto response on every emails?
Right now, I would advise to manage those on Gmail/Google app.

Yes, we would go in the account settings, draft an "out of office email" and activate/deactivate it easily. It triggers an auto-response on every email.
Advanced "out of office" feature usually available would be: "only send the OoO if the sender is part of my organization"
Svetlana Malakhova
Philippe Lehoux: In this case you would have to give credentials to your Gmail account to other people.
Svetlana Malakhova
Philippe Lehoux: Also, if you manage auto-responses from Gmail, then when they get sent, the threads become duplicated in Missive.
