Slow search in Missive by IMAP is a killer for us also. Wish they had a baked in way to get search to be faster.

To me it seems search is becoming slower and slower with the time

I changed from network Solutions hosting to Gmail and it solved my slow search problem. I also tested out Fastmail and it too solved the slow search problem. You should try it, my Missive search is as fast as GMAIL when using GMAIL to host our email.

Here's a reply I got from Missive Support after I wrote them regarding that:
It’s not unusual for IMAP servers to be slow at searching email bodies, even if the server’s specs aren’t bad and it isn’t busy.
The IMAP extension we know that can significantly improve search is SEARCH=FUZZY:
Unfortunately few independent email providers support it, at least by default. The only one we know is Fastmail. It offers extremely fast search, comparable to Gmail and Office 365.
A few other web hosting / webmail providers run installations of Dovecot that support SEARCH=FUZZY but those are rare. Dovecot is the most popular IMAP software. It supports SEARCH=FUZZY since version 2.1, but the extension must be manually enabled:
These links are the relevant documentation pages you could send to your hosting provider as reference.

Our server admin ended up installing Solr for indexing mails of our mail server. Now the search is quite fast in Missive.

It could be the reason for us to stop using the product.
More often I need to search only emails <2 weeks/1 month and there is no option for that. I very often use a webmail to get faster emails I'm looking for.

Search seems to work backwards, i.e. oldest messages are returned first. If it worked the other way around, it's more likely that relevant results would appear faster.
