There should be a pop out button in the same-window compose form, just like in Gmail.
For fast replies, same-window is faster. Only 10% of my emails need a new window. Sometimes I only realize I need a new window once I've started composing.

Hi there, we have a setting for that. It may be turned off by default depending on your OS, look for “Open drafts in new window” in the settings.
