New Contact Book Feedback

I am very disappointed with the new Contacts feature. I do not want to have to download a CSV from google contacts to import them to have to maintain 2 contact places. Is there anyway to integrate google contacts in Missive? I know a couple of others that can do it and would be really grateful to have Missive do the same. I have been using Missive for 2 years (next month) and this is one feature that is sorely lacks but would be a great edition for everyone.

I love the new contacts feature. It's the only thing that has been stopping us from coming over, so thank you and well done, the effort is appreciated!
I am having trouble, though, importing a csv file that I created in google sheets.
I can't for the life of me figure out why missive is telling me the format is not supported. Any idea what I might have missed team?
Thanks
Russ.

Russell Kempster: Hi Russell. At the moment our import feature is quite strictly limited to supporting Google CSV and Outlook CSV formats, so most manually created spreadsheets do not work. We are in the process of improving and documenting the supported formats.
To make it work for now, you should rename your columns:
- âNameâ to âFirst Nameâ
- âEmailâ to âE-mail Addressâ
- âPhoneâ to âPrimary Phoneâ

Rafael Masson: Hi Raf, thanks for the information.
We're currently using helpscout. I think we've found a way to export our contacts, and importantly, conversation history.
Will we be able to import
all
of this history into missive?Secondly, does missive sync with our gmail user so that all history is in both missive and gmail? If not, are we able to export our full account history (from missive) to avoid any potential issues like we're having with helpscout now?
Thanks Raf!
Russ.

Russell Kempster: Missive does continuous 2-way sync with Gmail and it automatically imports your email history based on the plan your select (see https://missiveapp.com/pricing).
How to get your Help Scout history in Missive depends on how you have configured Help Scout. If emails were received directly in Gmail and forwarded to HS, then your history is already in Gmail so you have nothing to do. If you currently have no copy of your emails outside Help Scout, the first step would be to find a way to import these emails into Gmail first. Email us at support@missiveapp.com with some details if you have any trouble getting this to work.

Rafael Masson: Brilliant! Unfortunately, we don't have copies outside helpscout, but, we'll make it happen.
Thanks so much Raf, can't wait to get our team set up!!

Hi Robert. Thanks for the feedback. Are you using another email app in parallel with Missive? If Missive is your only email app, we believe itâs a viable solution to do one first export from Google and import in Missive, then start managing your contacts only in Missive.
We will offer a CSV export feature ourselves in the near future because we donât want to lock you in either.
This is not to say we wonât ever offer 2-way syncing between Gmail and Missive. Itâs very likely we will, but we donât have an ETA at the moment.

Rafael Masson: yâall are doing great work, but thatâs a very steep ask to have Missive as a primary contact book.
Main reason I still use another email app(s) is that Missive doesnât have GSuite contacts sync.
Hereâs my setup:
- new contacts are added to iOS contacts;
- new contacts are enriched using FullContact;
- FullContact syncs my iCloud, GSuite, and other contacts books.
Missiveâs contact book is a locked box in this use case.

Alex Palmer Philippe Lehoux Rafael Masson Same setup / issue here (and probably many others with us). With that being said - would Missive's FullContact (Contacts+) integration solve this? Because if that's the only way to make syncing contacts work, I'm of the opinion that such integration should be included into the Starter plan, at least until you come up with a native sync.
