Would be great if this could be a Facebook-like notification that gathers all notifications in one place (assignments, tasks, mentions etc) with a view of unread notifications as well. That would help the user get oriented about the recent changes since the previous time the user was active in Missive alot more quickly.

Bia Sjøvoll: Yeah this would be great, Etienne Lemay I think having an aggregated "notification" panel would be better than just surfacing things into inbox, because you can be tagged across like 5-6 different inboxes and you have to hunt around for where you're being tagged or assigned.

Mathew Chan: What about viewing your unified inbox, rather than each sub-inbox one by one? Wouldn’t this work like the “aggregated panel” you have in mind?
Mathew Chan
Rafael Masson: No because it's a better user experience to keep notifications and emails separate.
I think especially for high volume inboxes, you can imagine how much more tedious it would be if the notifications were only surfaced in your unified inbox, along with all new incoming messages, so you basically have to look through everything.
That would defeat the purpose as I think notifications are higher priority and warrants your attention so they don't slip through the cracks. IMO it would be more useful to me if there is a dedicated place that shows only notifications so I can catch up on them all.
Hope that makes sense!

Rafael Masson: I'm gonna jump on the bandwagon here and endorse Mathew. We're now using Missive with a 20 person team, and that's not even our entire actual organization. There's alot of emails coming in all the time, and on top of that the notifications. Seeing how Missive can't sort Unread first and then the rest, after a while of email work the notifications can actually get lost "downstream". Because of this I've sometimes missed chat messages from others because any email related action automatically pushes the email to the top of the list view.
It would be great to super quickly get up to speed on recent notifications in a separate place instead of inside the inbox, where it can easily get lost in the midst of the incoming emails - and as Mathew points out, visually blend-in with the rest of the emails.

Bia Sjøvoll: Thanks for the feedback guys. Until we improve this area, something that could help is to monitor the Chats mailbox (if you do not see it in your left sidebar, click the “More” menu to open it). This mailbox only contains conversations where chat comments were posted. So it may be a good way to quickly filter out email-only conversations. Looking at unread conversations in the “Assigned to me” mailbox can similarly let you first see conversations you’ve been assigned to.

As a setting (so this can also be turned off) would be great, because in our use case this would only lead to more attention-drawing pop-ups/clutter. If your workflow is to use the universal/consolidated inbox, you automatically see your assigned e-mails whenever you look at your mailbox. If something is urgent and the person assigning you thinks you should act on it fast, then they could also mention you in a comment which triggers a notification.
